Our Vermentino’s clone comes from Gallura – Sardenia (Italy). In Italy the total area planted on this grape involves approximately 6,000 hectares. The region where it is most cultivated is Sardinia with around 4500 hectares, followed by Tuscany and Liguria. Vermentino is also cultivated in southern France (just over 6000 hectares), and specifically in Provence, Corsica, where it is the most important white variety, as in Languedoc-Roussillon.
Vermentino has a very good production in Malta and in the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon.
In California, the US state where it is most cultivated, Vermentino covers a total area of about 100 hectares. But this grape is also present in other U.S. states, such as Sierra Nevada, Texas, North Carolina and Virginia.
In Australia, the area affected by Vermentino is approximately 120 hectares. And it is present in South Australia, in Victoria, in the Hunter Valley, in the King Valley, in the Barossa Valley.
