While Autumn is painting our views, our team is helping Nature to make our farm even more beautiful than what it is already. Enjoy pictures taken during these past 2 weeks, they are telling you a bit of how busy ants we have been. Vineyards and weed control is our priority this month. As we speak, our Men are “gardening” Ayama Chenin Blanc vineyards. Actions like disking, sawing Korog and making the rows smooth and clean are done with passion and proud. Our ladies are incredible handymen, they help cleaning the wild shoots before men’s actions and while waiting for the next vineyard to be taken care of, they are improvising themselves as magnificent painters. The workshop building has been completely freshen up by white, heritage green and light brown colours. Soil preparation for the next plantings has started, controlled burning is necessary to clean the land and it is a good test for all our fire equipment.
We are very proud of our “recycling for colouring”. We started the project recycling glass, paper and plastic. The funds raised and doubled by the farm owners will be invested in seeds, plants, umbrellas for summer, fences and whatever needed for our Ayama Village, where all our employees and their families live (56 people between adults and kids). The project is managed by Riaan Willemse and Johan Visser, elected by all employees to make of this project a sure success.
After long months of water shortage, some good news on water. Besides some rain, we could start 1 of our boreholes assuring drinking water available in a more constant way through out all year. We are implementing our lines and supplies to all buildings and the first Jojo tank has been delivered between smiles and relieved souls. Attilio can’t stop playing around with delicacies from the vegetable garden, promising our Ayamafanatics “interesting” adding to the already famous for their quality in all Western Cape artichokes. Giant Garlic and Cicerchie have been planted and the little plants are coming out painting the brown clean soil with their bright green. For Ayamafanatics of pizza, pasta, polenta and special breads, we have GREAT news!! Our Stone Mill from Austria, is on its way to Slent! We are busy building an open view room for all to enjoy the sight of durum, Manitoba and high quality wheat becoming flour for their culinary amusement. Meanwhile our olives are pressed to be soon available as EVO, high quality Ayama Olio, the wine tasting room is under final touches… we are not revealing too much as we want to surprise you in the next days, just a few shots for now of something designed by Michela and which will amaze Ayamafanatics coming to visit us. WE ARE OPENING AT THE END OF JULY, SAVE THE DATE (no need for money the opening day 😊)!
AYAMA and its colours will be soon YOURS.
